Finding Peace in a Chaotic World: A Faith Journey

Not a Political post – or is it- you can decide 🙂

Navigating Life Amidst Chaos: A Journey of Faith, Purpose, and Peace

In the first few months of this year, the media has been flooded with headlines about political figures, international relations, the Super Bowl Halftime show, celebrity relationships, and much more. As a result, it can feel like we’re constantly bombarded by information. The noise surrounding topics like MAGA, MAHA, DOGE, and political tensions can overwhelm anyone, myself included.

Less Time on Social Media, More Time in God’s Word

Around the time of last year’s election, I found myself stepping back from social media. The overwhelming flood of opinions, “facts,” and debates was consuming my mental bandwidth. The constant barrage was taking a toll on my emotional well-being, and I realized that I was becoming consumed by negativity. The divisions, fear, sickness, and hopelessness perpetuated in the media were draining.

This is when I decided to be more intentional about where I was investing my time. I began spending more moments in God’s word rather than scrolling through social media or watching TV. What I discovered is that my faith was still in its early stages. I grew up knowing about God, but that knowledge was intellectual, not deeply rooted in my heart. Over time, I’ve come to realize that there is a significant difference between head knowledge and heart knowledge. These two aspects are deeply interconnected, yet distinctly different.

The Purpose of Our Lives: It’s About Being, Not Becoming

As I continued to reflect and learn, I began to seek clarity about my purpose in this world. I always thought I needed to become something—perhaps a successful career woman, a business owner, or a professional athlete. I thought these titles would define me. But in this season of reflection, I’ve come to understand that it’s less about becoming something and more about being someone.

Being a good steward of the gifts we’ve been given—both tangible and intangible—is our true calling. One scripture that resonated with me deeply is Romans 12:6-13 (NLT):

“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”

This passage reminded me that fulfilling my purpose isn’t as complicated as I once thought. It’s about using the gifts we’ve been given to serve others, to lead with responsibility, and to contribute to the greater good. That’s where true fulfillment lies—not in titles or accolades.

Peace Beyond Understanding: Rooted in Faith

In a world filled with chaos and division, I’ve found peace by returning to God’s word. The peace I experience surpasses all understanding and isn’t something easily explained—it has to be experienced. When I witness the frenzy of media, social media, and the turmoil in the world, I remind myself to focus on the peace that comes from a deep, trusting relationship with God.

I remain hopeful for a better future for humanity, but I also stay vigilant. I am cautious of false teachings, misleading information, and misguided people. I’ve learned not to place all my hope in human beings as I once did—because that led to heartbreak, confusion, and distrust.

Partnering with God, Not Just Being Used

I’ve heard many people, myself included, pray that God would use us for His purposes. However, I recently heard a perspective that changed how I view this. A speaker explained that God doesn’t want to use us. If we think about how it would feel if a friend or loved one used us, that would lead to hurt and sadness. Instead, God desires to partner with us in His work on earth. That’s a beautiful and empowering realization—God doesn’t just want us as tools, but as partners in the divine journey of fulfilling His will.

Trusting in the Almighty: A Perspective on Control

At the heart of it all, it comes down to who we believe is in control. I firmly believe that God, the Almighty, is and will always be in control, no matter what unfolds in the world of politics, media, or entertainment. While these events may affect my daily life, my peace is rooted in my faith and trust in God.

The more I center myself in the capital “T” Truth—not my truth, not the world’s truth—the more peace I feel. This peace, one that I never experienced before, is a welcome breath of fresh air. And I am committed to pursuing it, learning about it, and growing in it.

Focusing on What Truly Matters

While I keep my eyes open to the world around me, my heart remains focused on the One who created it all. This is where I find my anchor in the chaos. It’s a journey of constant growth, but one I’m excited to take.
